Five Minute Friday : TEAM

Five Minute Friday - Team

Last year, I was offered 2 tickets to the Patriots game at the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Now, I have to confess, I don’t know the game, but I went anyway because my husband is a huge Patriots fan. It was my first time being in a stadium to watch the game. I have to tell you, being part of that vast audience, the cheers, looking at the players in real life and rooting for your TEAM, I enjoyed every part of it.

The same happened yesterday when we caught the Olympic Women’s Single Badminton game for Gold live on TV. There is so much thrill in watching a live game, cheering and cooing for your team to win.

If you ask me, I would rather go outside and play the game myself than watch someone else play. But once in a while I let myself watch the finals of Euro or Cricket World cup or any sport my husband is crazy about. I have to admit, for a little while, I feel I am part of that team, I want them to win, I cheer for them, I support them. It’s good to be part of a team.

I remember my high school days being in the marching band and supporting our football team. I loved the thrill of cheering them on. I had no doubt I was on their team. At the end of a game, I felt worn out–and my voice was nearly gone. Of course, a win always felt better, but I was part of the team when we lost too.

I’m not really into watching sports but I went to watch badminton during the Commonwealth Games a couple of years ago and I agree, there was something really special about watching it live, cheering on the players and feeling like you were part of the team. (FMF #17)
